Quantified Imaging was co-founded by Professor Michael Chappell and Dr Tom Kirk as a spin-out from the University of Nottingham in 2023. Michael and Tom have been working together on ASL perfusion imaging since 2016 when they were both at the University of Oxford. Michael is creator the FSL BASIL toolbox, the world’s leading solution for ASL quantification in academic research.

Quantified Imaging has since received two Innovate UK grants to develop its world-leading MRI technology for dementia diagnosis, and closed a pre-seed investment round in early 2024. In October 2024, QI signed its first commercial partnership to license software into a clinical trial investigating blood-brain-barrier integrity.
