Perfusion is the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to cells via blood flow and is fundamental to brain health. Disrupted perfusion is linked to a wide range of brain diseases, including dementia, traumatic brain injury, stroke and epilepsy. Altered perfusion often emerges before non-reversible symptoms, serving as a vital marker of early disease.
The importance of perfusion
"Our experience with Quantified Imaging's software is profoundly positive as it outperforms existing methods significantly."
Dr Markus Fahlström, Uppsala University
Perfusion imaging via ASL
Quantified Imaging specialises in Arterial spin labelling (ASL), a type of MRI scan that measures brain perfusion. Unlike the existing techniques DSC MRI and PET, ASL does not require any injection of radioactive or toxic chemicals, which means it is safe to use on almost all patients including children. ASL is available on GE, Philips and Siemens scanners and can be captured in less than 5 minutes of scan time.

ASL captures blood flowing into the brain of a healthy subject, acquired on Siemens Vida 3T scanner in 5 minutes.

Quantified Imaging produces the world's leading software for processing ASL scans, based on 20 years of research into Bayesian inference at the Universities of Oxford and Nottingham. Compatible with all the major MRI manufacturers, our software provides:
• Exceptional (CBF) and arterial transit time (ATT) maps
• Automatic quality reporting, tailored specifically for ASL
• Automatic co-registration to structural MRI scans
• Automatic motion correction and deblurring
FDA approval pending.
